National Indoor Masters Championships 2025

Memorable day for St Brendan's AC at the All Ireland masters' indoor championships in Athlone...three gold race walks medals by Áine (with a new club 3K record), David K and Marian, a bronze by Artur in the high jump, a bronze by David K in the shot and good WFD performances by Martin and David B.

Munster Juvenile U12-U14 (incl. U13-U19 walks) Indoor Championships 2025 Report

The final Munster Indoor competition of the season and St Brendan’s AC kept the best till last, with excellent success for our juvenile athletes already in the U20 competition and U15-U19 age groups a few weeks back. Now it was the turn for the U12-U14 age categories and the race walkers in the U13-U19 age categories. Twenty five of our athletes competed and we had one athlete make their debut for the club.
Medallists
Jack Sheehy jumped to an amazing 4.26m in the final round of the BU12 long jump, smashing his old PB of 3.78m in the process.
Matilda Boulton was not giving up that gold medal in the home straight and keep her style all the way right through to the finish in 6:49.71 in the GU15 1K walk.
John McCarthy making it a 2nd year in a row to win the gold in Munster 1K walk with massive 1 minute+ PB coming home in 6:40.45 in the BU14s.
Tomas O’Flaherty in his debut in the 1K race walking to win the BU13 silver medal just 3/10ths of a second off first place. Setting a great time of 6:44.50.
Hannah Sheehy with a silver medal in the GU14 1K walk, just a few seconds off 1st place coming home in 6:03.03 taking 23 seconds off her previous best.
Cori Boylan winning silver in the GU16 1500m racewalk with a time of 9:51.53 in a battling performance with the challenge of shin splints.
Colm Fletcher, also making his debut in race walking winning the bronze in BU13 1K in time of 7:02.10.
Oisin Fletcher winning a bronze in the BU15 1K walk with a new pb of 6:27.50. Oisin’s first time racing indoors after outdoor success last season.
Sunday’s action was closed by Conor Slattery with his 2nd qualification to National Indoors with a brilliant bronze and a new pb of 1.35m in the BU13 high jump....breaking off during the event to run the BU13 relay.
Earlier in the day he qualified to Nationals after placing 4th in the shot putt with a new personal best of over 2m with a throw of 8.84m in the final round.
Finalists
Caoimhe O’Driscoll, placing 7th in the GU12 shot put with a new PB of 5.80m, her old PB was 4.51m!
Ella O’Sullivan, with a huge opening jump of 3.69m in the GU12s which saw her through to the final placing 6th overall.
Fionn Cashell, reaching the BU12 60mH final and placing 6th with a time of 11.73.
Kara Lawlor, first time competing at Munster Indoors and a result of 5.71m for 8th place in the GU12 shot.
Jack Sheehy, placing 6th in the BU12 60m final with a new PB of 9.02.
Cody McKenna, made the 60mH final and placed 6th overall. Also reached the 60m semi final and set a new PB in that event.
Conor Slattery, set a new personal best in the 60mH final and placed 7 th in the event.
Katie Butler, throwing further than her previous best 4 times recorded a best throw of 8.96m in the GU14 shot putt placing 7th .
Debut
Willow Molloy who joined the club this year made her debut. In the 800m heats she had a storming run, smashing her time trial time by over 10 seconds to set a PB of 2:35.08 as she placed 4th in her heat and 7th out of 39 competitors. Watch this space.

On the relay front we had two teams compete, the GU12 team of Roisin Diggins, Grace McGuckin, Einin Lawlor and Aisling Driscoll placing 3 rd in their heat with a good run in their run first together as team over the 4x200m distance. The BU13 team had a line-up change this time out as Corey O’Carroll picked up an injury in the sprint semi final so Fionn Cashell (U12) stepped up to run in the team. Changing the order Jack Sheehy (U12) lead off before passing the baton to Conor Slattery, then to Fionn and finally to Cody McKenna. The boys had clean changes and a great run to place 2nd in their heat and 5th overall.
That closed out an excellent championships for our club and some stats from the Munster Indoors where our club athletes recorded 44 personal bests across a range of events from sprints, hurdles, long jump, middle distance, walks, shot put, triple jump, high jump in which club athletes competed.
5x gold medals (walks x2, middle distance, long jump, triple jump) 4x silver (walks x3, long jump)
5x bronze medals (walks x2, hurdles, long jump, triple jump), 44 new personal bests.
11 athletes qualified for National Indoor competition.
Credit to our athletes on their success and our coaching team for helping them deliver their best in a high standard competition. Thank you to the athletes for competing for the club and for their parents for bringing them to the event and covering lifts for other athletes where needs be.
We look forward to national Indoors next month where all roads lead to Athlone.
