Kerry Road Championships 2015

Firies was the venue for this years Kerry Road Championships organised by local club Farranfore Maine Valley AC.
Race consisted of one 5K loop in Senior, Novice, Junior and Masters categories on a perfect day for running. It was good turnout from many athletes with most of the clubs in Kerry well represented.
St.Brendan's AC had one of the better days in recent history with 8 club athletes taking part in this championships, finishing the day with 6 individual medals and Women's Master Team medal. Not bad for 7 first timers at this competition of which 4 run Full Marathon and 2 Half Marathon just one week earlier.

Below some results from the day.

Third edition of Kerry's Eye Tralee International Marathon took place on Sunday 15 March 2015 with new route, new start line for Full Marathon and new finish line for both Half and Full Marathon.
New route for Full Marathon includes almost full distance of our own Banna 10K route, known for its almost flat surface making it one of the fastest 10K's in Munster.
With the number of participants slightly lower compared to previous years it was still a  well attended event which included large groups from Kerry athletic clubs and other running groups.
For runners registered with Athletics Ireland it was also Kerry Athletics Championships in Full and Half Marathon and St.Brendan's AC was at the top of the podium with Derek Griffin finishing 3rd overall and 1st Kerryman in another sub 3hrs performance.

Well done to the athletes who represented St.Brendan's AC in Munster Juveniles Indoor Championships in Nenagh on 8 March 2015. We had 2 girls in U12 category (Daisy Nowak & Sadbh Lowth) and one in U10 (Lilly Nowak). For all three of them it was their first ever competition at this level and this was a good experience in a highly competitive field.
Over 50 competitors were taking part in each event - Long Jump and 60m sprints!
Girls U12 had High Jump, Long Jump and 60m sprint and for U10 it was down to Long Jump and 60m sprint.

Best results for all 3 girls came in Long Jump competition, with all 3 getting new PBs in this event.

Congratulations once again to Darragh Courtney who is back on top with his high jump.  Darragh won the U15 high jump competition with a jump of 1.70m on Saturday 28th March in Nenagh at the Munster Indoors.  He won a bronze medal in the hurdles event too.  It was great to see the Lowth brothers Shane & Darragh back competing this year at the Indoors.  Both medalled with Darragh placing third in the U16 1500m & Shane placing third in the U19 400m.
Well done to all of the St. Brendan’s athletes who competed over the weekend & thank you to their parents who travelled with them.                        Results HERE.
