St Brendan’s AC Notes Sunday October 13th, 2019

Well done to Eimear O’Sullivan (St Brendan’s AC) who won the Kerry Athletics county junior cross country championship title in Firies on Sunday. Eimear was competing at junior cross country level for the first time and was very impressive over a testing course. That is her third weekend in a row finishing in a medal position at county level.

The club AGM was held on Friday night last in Cúl Mhuire in Ardfert. A lager attendance than previous years was present and there wide-ranging discussions on a number of topics. The chairman Shaz Malik stated in his report that the club had a very good year with the 10th anniversary Banna Run being the highlight with a record number of entries. Treasurer Moira Horgan presented an excellent report which showed that the club is in a healthy financial position. Head coach Orla Fitzgerald listed the medal and participation success of the juveniles and adults from county to national level while registrations were high in all categories. One of the topics discussed on the night was the necessity for more parental assistance at training sessions and parents will be contacted about this shortly. The club thanked everyone who had helped in any way over the past year to ensure that a full programme of events and services was given to the athletes.
The following officers were elected:
President – Patrick O’Riordan
Chairperson – Shaz Malik
Vice chairperson – John Clifford
Secretary – Irene Butler
Assistant Secretary: David Butler
Treasurer – Moira Horgan
