MUNSTER
T&F U9-U11 PAIRED & U12 –U13 2013
Over a very hot weekend many of our St. Brendan’s
athletes travelled to Ennis track Co. Clare on Saturday & Sunday 8th
& 9th June. A lot were
unlucky to place just outside of the medals.
There were some very good performances with some achieving personal
bests.
Darragh Courtney was our only medal
winner of the weekend coming second
in the u13 60m hurdles. Darragh was joint third in the high jump with a PB of 1.40m also bringing home a bronze medal, a great improvement on
last year & he came fourth in the long jump, a competition which he has not done for a while. A great weekend for Darragh when he got a PB in his shot putt
competition of 9.66m. Ali Gardezi competed at his first outdoor track &
field competition at Munster level & did really well.
The U10 boys paired duo of Robert Monahan & Jack
Shanahan came fourth in the long jump with a combined score of 6.87m. The u11 couple of Gavin Raggett &
Breanndán Walsh placed outside of the medals in their long jump.
Aaron Malik got a pb in the U13 javelin of 19.83m
& was unlucky not to medal. This was
his first time to enter this competition at Munster level. Also entering the girls U13 60m hurdles for the first time was Ellen Wallace who made it to the finals but was unlucky not to medal. Kate O' Shea came fourth in the U13 shot putt with a throw of 8.58m & faced stiff competition in the long jump but was well inside the top 10!
After two very long, hot days the relay competitions
were held & whilst our relay teams ran really well they were just outside
of the medal positions!
We look forward to the AAI competition on the 20th & 21st July in Tullamore, Co.Offaly!
