All athletes must be registered with AAI annually. For insurance purposes, athletes will not be permitted to train if they are not registered. A copy of birth certificate is also required by AAI for first time members.

New Regional Squad System for Munster
Athletes selected on the 'Performance Squad' will be notified by post early next week and the 'Development Squad' is open to all athletes u13-u15 in 2011 age groups. Any athletes who have achieved a major championships standard are not eligible for the 'Performance Squad' as it it is aimed at those below this level. These athletes are catered for at National Squads.
More details of the 1st squad day on Saturday December 3rd at Cork IT will be sent to clubs and put on websites closer to the date.

3) The athlete should be close to or capable of getting very close to
a European Youth or European Junior qualifying time as set out in
attached document.
Application Process:
Athletes selected by head event coach and regional development officer and invited
to confirm place and register online. Full details of athletes selected will be sent to
all clubs and to athlete’s parents.
Athletes to pay a total fee of €25 online that covers all sessions and fill in online
sheet giving contact details for parents and personal coach

There will be a Sports Psychology workshop taking place for athletes & coaches at An Riocht AC Track, Castleisland Co Kerry on Wednesday 23rd November. It is open to all athletes & coaches aged 14+. The workshop runs from 7-9pm and cost is €5 payable on the night at registration 6.30-6.55pm. The workshop begins at 7pm sharp so everyone is asked to be on time.
The workshop will be run by Dr Alan Ringland who is an expert in the field, having worked with numerous different sports. Alan is also an accredited Sports Psychologist with the Irish Institute of Sport.
The primary objectives of the workshops will be:
- To introduce sport psychology
- To emphasise the importance of mental training as part of the overall holistic approach to athletics
- To highlight the importance of mental routines as part of pre competition preparation
- To discuss sports psychology as part of a coaching program
- To learn competition day anxiety coping techniques
