Munster Juveniles U14 - U19 Track & Field Championships 2017
Munster Juveniles U14 - U19 Track & Field Championships.
What a fabulous weekend for our St. Brendan's AC club athletes to be competing on at CIT track in Cork.
Day 1 saw Rebecca Falvey, Lauren O' Grady & Aaron Malik taking part. Rebecca was taking part in her inaugural Munster competition in both the U15 Long Jump & 200m. A great display in both events by this very promising young athlete. We look forward to see what the future will bring her.
Lauren u18 was 1st in the discus competition & placed 3rd in the shot. Aaron (U17) was 4th in the javelin also qualifying for the All-Ireland competition in July.
Day 2 saw Lauren & Aaron compete again with Darragh Courtney & Eimear O' Sullivan joining them. Lauren was up first in the hammer placing 3rd, she later placed 4th in the shot putt thus qualifying for All-Ireland's in each of her events. Aaron was 3rd in both the discus & 300m hurdles also qualifying for all of his events at All-Irelands.
Darragh (U17) was 1st in the 300m hurdles in a well run but close race.
Eimear (U15) also appearing at her first Munster competition came 4th in her 1500m which meant she also qualified for the National finals.
Congratulations to all athletes involved & well done on the great displays of athleticism over the weekend. Looking forward to the National finals which will take place in Tullamore, July 8th, 9th & 16th. Well done everyone.

Munster Master Track & Field Championships 2017
Munster Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships took place on Sunday 11 June 2017 and the venue was Cork IT track.
St.Brendan's AC had 3 Masters athletes competing in different events ranging from 100m sprint to 800m in track events and from jumps to throws.
Ursula Barrett (W40) was in great form to carry on where she left off after her indoor season and her winning form continued with 3 gold medals in 100m, 200m and Long Jump.
Her winning time in 200m was the fastest in all women's category to add this to her long jump result - also the best jump in all Masters categories.
David Kissane (M60) won 2 bronze medals in 400m and 800m on the track and silver medal in Javelin. Great to see that the new skills and some practice worked well.
Back in action after some break was our current club president, Patrick O'Riordan (M65) in flying form winning gold medals in Long Jump and High Jump. Good to see Patrick back competing.
St.Brendan's AC finished the day with an impressive tally of 5 gold medals, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Well done to all athletes for competing in difficult weather conditions
