Dublin City Marathon 2013
Well done to all Kerry runners, especially the two from St Brendan's AC on their completion of Dublin City Marathon 2013.
This was an exceptional race for Derek, setting a new club record for Marathon distance, making it a hat trick for him in 2013 after improving on club previous records for 10 miles and Half Marathon.
Derek Griffin 2:57:42 (chip time 2:57:39) - 250 overall
It was a day to remember for Ursula Barrett, taking on the 26.2 miles distance for the very first time and finishing in with a very respectable time, fundraising for Barretstown in the process.
Ursula Barrett 4:40:17 (chip time 4:37:48)

Weekend action 12-13 October 2013
Another busy weekend of action for St.Brendan's AC members, which saw athletes taking part in 4 events over Saturday & Sunday.
First on the starting line on Saturday morning was Artur Nowak, taking part in the first mountain marathon in Dingle. With Mount Brandon in the first half and then the Conor Pass to conquer and time limits in place, it was hard going. All of the 34 runners finishing Full Marathon managed to complete course in under the 9hrs time limit. Conditions on Brandon peak were challenging with low visibility in places, making navigating rocky trail that much more difficult.
Artur Nowak finished in time of 5:33.14 in 18th position overall.
Few short clips from mountain stages on our FB page HERE.

Second event on a busy Saturday took place in south Kerry on Valentia Island.
We had Pat Sheehy and Tom Scanlon representing St.Brendan's AC in the annual half marathon and both runners did very well on the scenic but difficult half marathon.
Pat Sheehy clocked 1:50.45 in 50th overall position and 2nd in over 55 age group category and shortly after we had Tom Scanlon in time of 1:53.35 in 61st overall.

St.Brendan's AC was represented by John Lynch, who travelled all the way to Tipperary in pursuit of a fast course to break the 40min goal he set himself for this year.
Congratulation to John who managed to finish in 39:09 in 11th position overall.

Killarney Adventure Race & The Human Race
Helly Hansen Killarney Adventure Race 2013
On Saturday 5th of October a group of adventure enthusiasts ( or "you must be mad") from all over Ireland and beyond, arrived in Killarney for the annual Killarney Adventure Race 2013.
A well established race which is growing in numbers every year. If you do it once, you want to come back to do it faster, if this is your first time you want to know "what all the fuss is about". With a choice of 3 different distance races and Relay options, in one of the best locations in Ireland for this type of race, over 1800 people (most of them clinically sane) started from The Gap of Dunloe (59K & 69K route) or The Gleneagle Hotel (27K).
A sunny day with temperature around 20*C, it was the perfect setting to try to finish in one piece and enjoy the day of running, hiking, cycling, kayaking, running, hiking, cycling .....
St.Brendan's AC was represented by Artur Nowak in 69K distance, finishing in 5h35min. A major improvement on KAR 2012.

The Human Race
University of Limerick grounds was the venue for The Human Race consisting of a run on one of 3 distances: 10K, Half Marathon and 30K.
We had 2 athletes from St.Brendan's AC - John Lynch in 10K - 40:43 (9th overall) and Ursula Barrett in 30K - 2:47.04 (16th in women's category) as the long training run for Dublin City Marathon.
