AAI Indoor Championships 2013

AAI INDOOR RESULTS 2013

It was a very busy weekend for athletics.  Whilst the Kerry Indoors were taking place in Listowel, the AAI Indoor competition u9-u19 was taking place in Athlone on Saturday & Sunday 23rd & 24th March 2013.  Athletes & parents said that the new arena is a fine warm facility.  It served the St. Brendan’s athletes well over the weekend.  Darragh Lowth brought home the only medal of the weekend, he was in great form in the boy’s u14 800m final. In a very close final Darragh came in third to win the bronze medal.  Kate O’ Shea was also in action in the girls u13 shot putt, she got a personal best with a throw of 8m 98 but unfortunately was just edged out into fourth place.  Ali Gardezi was in the u13 boys high jump competition & jumped a very good 1.35 but he was unlucky not to place amongst the medal winners.  Finally Darragh Courtney was competing in two events in the boys u13 category.  First up was the shot putt but this time it just didn’t go his way, next up  was the 60mhurdles with Darragh getting to the final & placing fourth again just unlucky to be outside of the medals.  For most of these athletes it was their first time at the AAI Indoors & we hope to see them in the near future again.  Well done to all the athletes.
